$1 million prize pool at the Gamers8 Saudi event for the ESL R1 grid

The esports event returns in 2023 after its debut last year in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia. For the first time, competitive sim racing games will be featured alongside Rocket League, Rainbow Six and Fortnite.

The ESL R1 grid, itself a new championship this season utilizing the unreleased racing sim, is expected to be in attendance and utilizing a personal LAN setup, analogous to last week’s Spring Major in Munich.

The structure of the one-off tournament, which is not part of the ESL season, has yet to be publicly announced. The line-up is expected to consist of teams and drivers from the existing championship, although the list of participants is not public at this time.

Notably, it takes place between July 27th and 30th, right next to the Formula E: Accelerate competition in London. Traxion.GG understands that some riders now have conflicting commitments and will choose Gamers8.

The total prize pool for all esports activities at the event is currently a whopping $45,000,000.
