2023 Super Formula cars are coming to Gran Turismo 7 this month

Cars from the 2023 super formula motorsport series are heading to Gran Turismo 7 this month, it was announced today (3 March 2023).

Thanks to a partnership renewal between Japan Race Promotion organization, which owns Super Formula, and Polyphony Digital, both the Toyota and Honda powered Dallara SF23 cars will appear in the game.

The partnership had already borne fruit when the SF19 Dallara-built super formula cars appeared in GT Sport before being ported to GT7 in 2022, complete with a working push-to-pass system controlled via the driver’s laugh button game was served.

The goal in developing the SF23 was to use trick aerodynamics to encourage overtaking while making an important green mark by reducing 75% of the carbon emissions generated during the production process (compared to the previous SF19).

The gains are largely thanks to Bcomp’s bio-composites used in the construction of the car. including the use of cork, flax fiber and recycled carbon fiber in the bodywork. Tire supplier Yokohama will also issue carbon neutral rubber to teams to improve the series’ sustainability credentials.

The Dallara SF23 will arrive in GT7 with two distinctive liveries, codenamed ‘Red Tiger’ and ‘White Tiger’, with the cars scheduled for a post-release community-focused ‘Gran Turismo 7 Livery Contest’.

Super Formula is Japan’s premier single seater series and has been a proving ground for several open wheel superstars over the years. including alumni such as Eddie Irvine, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Stoffel Vandoorne.
