Automobilista 2: Barcelona free while RC is running

We continue with the additions in Automobilista 2 and just in time for this weekend Barcelona appears in the Release Candidate (free as long as the RC is running). It could be available to the rest of the players soon, along with other very exciting physics changes.

A new release candidate build of Automobilista 2 is now available as a Steam beta branch for those who want to test the new update ahead of its official release in the coming days.

AMS2 users can now select the latest Release Candidate, currently V1.4.7.0 Build 2297 – to access this build, right click on Automobilista 2 in your Steam library, go to Properties tab -> “Beta” and select the “ReleaseCandidate” branch from the drop-down menu.

V1.5 PHYSICS REVISIONS

According to the latest developer update, V1.4.8 includes major physical overhauls of a first group of vehicle classes. These revisions are expected to be completed for all vehicles in the game by the next update in 4-5 weeks (V1 .5.0).

IMPORTANT: All reworked vehicles MUST have the setup reset. Users can do this by either resetting each model individually via their setup menu or by deleting the local folder “DocumentsAutomobilista 2savegame123456789automobilista 2vehiclesetups” for all vehicles (but please note that this will also delete your Delete existing setups from currently non-reworked vehicles that do not yet require the reset.

AI dry power is said to be well balanced with player performance for all classes that have already been revamped. If you continue to notice discrepancies, please report the vehicle/route combination along with any specific details. Wet weather is still not fully calibrated as some classes still need further adjustments to both player tires and wet calibration – we expect this to be covered in time for the official release.

V1.4.7.2 -> V1.4.8.0 CHANGELOG

CONTENTS

  • Added Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya (DLC, free for everyone during the Release Candidate period)
  • Added Formula USA 2023 (Road, Short Oval and Speedway variants)
  • Added Formula Junior

GENERALLY

  • Added “Race Weekend” option to set pre-race sessions as private sessions (when enabled, participants run on an empty track with no interaction with other vehicles).
  • Added an option to set the minimum number of tire changes required for a mandatory stop in SP/MP/Champ to be considered valid. Not all stops require the changes, but at least one stop in the window must meet the requirements to avoid disqualification; The AI will now take advantage of changing fewer tires at mandatory stops when other factors aren’t forcing it to change more
  • Pit Strategy: Removed “Recommended” tire change strategy. (Rebooting for the beta is recommended. A forced reset will likely occur before the main release.) When saving a strategy for the selected connections, if only the Front or Back Only option would be valid, it will automatically be for applied to the user. The time estimate for changes now reflects the actual connections selected, regardless of the front/back/all setting
  • Updated Trueforce support, higher rate, cleaner TF audio effects. Uses native TF lockstop
  • Initial fuel levels in Multiplayer Qualification are now the same as the player set in the previous session instead of forcing an automatic fuel level

User Interface and HUD

  • Fixed keyboard/controller navigation and incorrect button mapping on vehicle class selection page. ([A]/Enter now switch classes, [X]/H deletes everything)
