Detailed online multiplayer rankings of MotoGP 23

More details about MotoGP 23’s all-new online multiplayer ranking system have come to light thanks to a second developer Q&A session that answered some community requests.

While we’re understandably yet to see it in action or test it ourselves, two of the game’s developers have detailed how it will work.

“All tiers, including Platinum but not Legend, will have three distinct sub-tiers,” said the title’s executive producer and creative director, Michele Caletti.

“There’s a lot of granularity [within] the different levels and then there is the ‘legend’ which is unique. There is plenty of room for grinding.

“This system helps us match players of the same level into the same match,” said Stefano Zanaboni, Lead Game Designer for MotoGP 23.

“We want players to be able to enjoy this new feature of MotoGP and explore it with amazing racing.”

So far, such a system has not been implemented within the series developed by Milestone. There were public and private lobbies, but no way to compete against similarly gifted drivers other than joining an independently organized league.

As previously announced, the dynamic weather and flag-to-flag ruleset will of course also be available online – a first for the series. That said, some hero will no doubt try to make it to Brad Binder on slicks in the rain and win…

MotoGP 23 is set to launch on June 8th, 2023 and will also feature cross-platform online racing between PlayStation and Xbox consoles – although PC and Switch are sadly sidelined.
