eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series Race Preview: Race 7: Las Vegas

Two weeks away from the first-ever fixed-setup race in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series at Talladega, which followed a six-race circuit to open the season, including three Superspeedway-style tracks, two all-new tracks and, oh Yes , Richmond, things are getting back to normal tonight. Perhaps.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the next stop on the 2023 schedule, and while this course offers more normality among the rest of the previous races, it could still prove to be another wildcard race with less off-gas time than might be desired.

Casey Kirwan (XSET) scored the most recent win, adding his name to the list of Bobby Zalenski (Joe Gibbs Racing), Steven Wilson (Stewart-Haas Esports), Michael Conti (JR Motorsports) and Tucker Minter (Team Dillon Esports) winners of the Season.

TWO WEEKS AGO IN TALLADEGA

The very first fixed-setup Coke race was certainly one to remember. There were a lot of lead changes, the package was competitive and you didn’t really know who was going to win until the last few yards.

Off Turn 4 on the final lap, Malik Ray (Jim Beaver Esports) had made it. However, he ended up being separated from his help, allowing Kirwan and Collin Bowden (eRacr) to both run.

Kirwan moved in front of the ball, which was Bowden, and received a shot so accurate, so accurate, he catapulted it right in front of Ray, who came to the line. Kirwan took the loot and Ray thought again about what another second place could have been. Bowden managed to take home third place.

LAS VEGAS STORY

Michael Conti wins Las Vegas, concedes 12th career win

Another one of those tracks where, if you’ve ever watched a full season of eNASCAR competition before, you would have come across Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the schedule.

Part of the inaugural 2010 season, the second race in series history was legendary as Sandeep Banerjee claimed an incredible victory on the 1.5 mile D-shaped oval.

From 2011 to 2016, players such as Brad Davies, PJ Stergios (twice), Marcus Lindsey, Kenny Humpe and Corey Vincent (Pittsburgh Knights) recorded victories at the facility. When 2017 rolled around and rookie Ryan Luza (XSET) emerged, Las Vegas was actually Luza Vegas and had four wins in five years, including his first straight three-pointer.

Jimmy Mullis (Rise Esports) was the one to break the initial streak in 2020 and in 2022 it was Conti who took the final checkered flag.

WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR

While Luza didn’t get a fifth win at the track last season, he still managed to finish fourth. His track record speaks for itself, despite his recent bad luck. When it comes to Vegas odds, Luza would be an easy bet.

Conti and the rest of the Team Conti crewmates too. While Ottinger doesn’t have a win here, two of his backend teammates in Conti and Mullis do. Ottinger needs a win and Las Vegas could be where he can win big.

Vincent, also a past winner, will try to keep his momentum going. He currently sits 13th in points after six races, and a win could put him right into the playoff talks.

There are also the usual suspects to watch out for. Kirwan, Zalenski, Wilson and Graham A. Bowlin (Charlotte Phoenix) are all looking to return to this championship race for the second straight year. A win in Las Vegas could prove to be a winning ticket.
