Here’s the full rundown of what to expect in Forza Horizon 5’s Horizon Road Trip series of festival playlists.
The latest festival playlist and new content for Forza Horizon 5 was announced on Monday (September 12, 2022). The 12th series to take the title is called Horizon Road Trip and celebrates the different disciplines included in the game to drive around Mexico.
Each week focuses on a different type of racing, from summer general street racing at Horizon Apex, fall cross-country racing at Horizon Baja, winter street racing at Horizon Street Scene, and spring dirt racing at Horizon Wilds. New body kits, cars, challenges, and races are available for the next four weeks on the Forza Horizon 5 calendar.
In the playlists, some championship events are longer, the focus is more endurance races, and the PR stunts are less constrained with more options to complete the tasks. The new playlist will be released later this week on September 15th.
THREE BRAND NEW CAR REWARDS FOR FORZA HORIZON 5
The new cars mentioned above will all be unlockable as rewards during this 12th Season of Celebration.
2021 AUDI RS E-TRON
At the head of the trio is the 2021 Audi RS e-tron, an all-electric luxury and performance vehicle with over 600 hp and two electric motors, one for the front tires and a more powerful one for the rear.
2021 Audi RS7
Another Audi, but this one with a combustion engine. The luxurious RS 7 has just under 600 horsepower but sounds like a car I’d love to drive, all deep and throaty, as we were able to hear about it during the monthly Forza livestream.
2021 LYNK & CO 03+
Manufactured by a Chinese and Swedish combination of a company, the 03+ model might handle a little heavier than the Audis listed above, but still has 265bhp and a really modern design that looks pretty neat.
TWO CARS RETURNING FROM PREVIOUS FORZA TITLES
Both the 1991 Bentley Turbo R and the 2018 Nissan Sentra NISMO also return to the franchise this week.
These two cars will also be rewards at the Season 12 Weekly Festivals.
FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, SERIES REWARD
The aforementioned Audi RS e-tron is one of the two “epic” rewards for the entire Horizon Road Trip festival. For just 80 PTS, this exclusive electric beast can be yours. Double that total to 160 PTS and you can drive a ‘hard to find’ McLaren 765 LT.
There are two monthly events that can be completed at any time to each add 4 PTS to your total for each week. Monthly Rivals takes players to the Bola Ocho Circuit, where a clean lap is required to succeed. Forza EV takes place on the Emerald Circuit, which again requires a clean lap.
FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, SUMMER
The first season is, as always, the wet season, also known as summer. Two “rare” rewards are up for grabs in the form of the “exclusive” Bentley Turbo R for 20 PTS and the “hard to find” MG MG3 for 40 PTS.
For the festival’s first #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge, you’ll need a 2013 KTM X-Bow R to compete. The week’s focus is street racing, and the easiest item you’ll ever get in each week is to visit the outposts for the week’s theme. Horizon Apex comes first.
If you’re inducted into the Hall of Fame, you’ll be rewarded with an Aston Martin DB11 for completing The Trial entitled “On The Road Again”.
During the stream, we were only able to see Summer Rewards before the UI switched from rewards to auto-restrictions, meaning such restrictions have been relaxed.
While you might be able to guess what some rewards might be, some featured cars might just be there in place of something like a Super Wheelspin or Forza Link reward. We’ll know for sure when the week comes, so stay tuned for our weekly guides to see what rewards are on the table besides points.
A Treasure Hunt, Fast Track, is available in the Summer series. The #APEXSUPERSTARS Photo Challenge requires you to climb into a 2013 Caterham Superlight R500 to pose at the Apex Outpost.
When you compete in a Horizon Open racing event, you’ll receive a fun Forza Link reward with the caption “You’re Winner.” Seven more points are available for owners of the Hot Wheels expansion, plus a Super Wheelspin and a “common” 1997 BMW M3.
FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, FALL
The fall storm season is representative of the Horizon Baja Festival, so cross country racing will be a priority. Once again, the season offers a pair of “rare” cars to earn enough points. Another new reward car in the 2021 Audi RS 7 can be earned at 20 PTS, and the Toyota 4Runner is yours at 40 PTS.
A 1970 Volkswagen #1107 Desert Dingo Racing Stock Bug (that’s quite a bite) is required to complete the Fall #FORZATHON weekly challenge, and as mentioned earlier, a visit to the Baja Outpost earns basic points in the first daily challenge of the Week .
The Trial for Hall of Famers is Cross Country Sports and an Alumni Craft C. 10 is the reward for completion.
Check out Oasley’s Fall Seasonal Playlist Guide on September 22nd to see what rewards can be earned in the seasonal events.
In the fall there is also a treasure hunt called “Dune Buggy”. The picture makes it look like you need the same Volkswagen Buggy from the Weekly Challenge.
The #INTOTHEBAJA Photo Challenge takes place on the Baja Outpost Stage and you need a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT to be the focal point of the photo. A “MWAHAHAHA” Forza Link reward is earned by finishing 30th place or better in The Eliminator this fall.
Finally, there are seven more points and probably two rewards available to Hot Wheels players.
FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, WINTER
Moving on to the dry season, it’s winter and once again there’s that snazzy new car to own that was discussed earlier in this article. The “rare” and “exclusive” Link & Co 03+ costs 20 PTS. An “Epic” and “Hard to Find” Donkervoort GTO is yours for 40 PTS.
This is Street Scene season so the playlists will be street racing themed. The #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge features a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and the easy first Daily Challenge to complete is a visit to the Street Scene Festival outpost.
A Mosler MT900S is earned by Hall of Famers if they can win the Street Safari Trial.
Everything else in the Seasonal, come back here on September 29th for the weekly guide.
Three weeks, three treasure hunts with the Super Street Event. A #STREETSCENE Photo Challenge requires a 2008 Renault Mégane R26.R and the Street Scene Outpost in the background.
Also… “It’s Morbin’ Time” when you perform five Ultimate Drift Skills in Horizon Open Drifting. Yes. memes
Hot Wheels Expansion players, guess what? You can get seven more points in winter.
FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, SPRING
In the fourth and final season, HOT Spring, there is one final “rare” and “exclusive” car to earn for 20 PTS – the 2018 Nissan Sentra NISMO. At 40 PTS, an “Epic” and “Hard to Find” Ferrari 512TR is earned.
Wilds are wild in Spring, and the Horizon Wilds Outpost is the go-to spot for many parts of the season, including the first daily challenge as usual. The #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge requires players to own and drive a 1990 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R.
The #65 911 Desert is the reward for The Trial, again only for those in the Forza Horizon 5 Hall of Fame.
For the rest of the season’s rewards, head back on October 6th to see what’s good in Oasley’s weekly Springtime guide.
Treasure hunts go 4v4 with the Rally On The Wild Side event associated with the Rally. The #RUNNINGWILD Photo Challenge requires a 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR and the Horizon Wilds Outpost in the background.
“That’s not even my final form!” is the joke for the Forza Link reward available for another round of completing the top half in The Eliminator.
GAME FIXES COMING
The 12th Season Festival will also include some required game fixes that are included in the update.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the weekly Forzathon from progressing if challenges were not completed in the correct order.
- A fix that allows Steam players to unlock the One for All and Back in the Saddle achievements.
- Low frame rates for PC gamers using AMD Radeon 6×00 series graphics cards with AMD SAM enabled.
- A fix for the “Not Connected” message that was incorrectly appearing in EventLab when creating a route or selecting a track to play.
- Audio was interrupted when upgrades or tuning setups were applied to your car. This has been fixed.
