iRacing introduces the new Ligier JS P320

We don’t remember many quarters when iRacing presented so much new content and cars. Yesterday iRacing presented the Ligier JS P320an LMP3 class car from the various FIA and IMSA endurance championships.

The new prototype joins the platform as a new car, joining the Formula 1600, Clio Cup and BMW LMPh (with rumors of more LMPh cars). We have to acknowledge that this is a bet that surprises simulator fans, mainly due to the development of the new hybrid cars that will take part in endurance races and complete the series: LMPh, LMP2 and GT.

However, now we have the complete multi-class. We’ll wait and see how the classes are divided up, because at the moment there isn’t a series with four categories (LMPh, LMP2, LMP3, GT). Currently, LMP3 is part of the FIA regional championships (LeMans series in Europe, Asia) and also in the IMSA, but not in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Unveiled during the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ligier JS P320 is one of the four new generation chassis selected by the ACO – the Automobile Club de l’Ouest. A worthy heir to the Ligier JS P3, the Ligier JS P320 is instantly recognizable with its modern hypercar look and signature Ligier front end.

The Ligier JS P320 retains all the characteristics of the Ligier JS P3 that have made its reputation: its robustness and ease of driving. With a new 95% different body, Öhlins shock absorbers, a new, more powerful Nissan V8 VK56 engine, an adapted cooling system and aerodynamics optimized for all circuits, the Ligier JS P320 aims to outperform its older sister.

As for the car, we’re cautious about imagining its success (or not) with the platform’s audience. We believe it will be a lighter or simpler car than its older siblings, which may result in a full and balanced series, but we don’t know what role it will play among the prototypes and GTs within the series it competes in .

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
