iRacing S3 2023: content confirmed

Let’s check out the list of upcoming features and updates coming to iRacing next week. You are welcome to take a look at these with us.

Ring Masters Series

The new series, which we have already described in detail in a separate post.

iRacing will introduce a new concept for street series starting with the third season 2023 with the Ricmotech Ring Meister Series. With four-lap races at the Nürburgring, industrial drives and open qualifying, this series serves as a pilot program for a new concept where the cars change every week during the season and not on the track.

Ligier JS P320 LMP3

A new addition to a new class featured in popular endurance series. It will also be present at large special events.

The Ligier JS P320 was launched in the summer of 2019 as the successor to the JS P3 that had won numerous victories and championships in global and international series. This new version brings bodywork and suspension changes compared to its predecessor, including the addition of traction control and a more powerful Nissan V8 engine due to the new LMP3 regulation.

The LMP3 category was introduced as an entry-level class in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) alongside other endurance series such as IMSA.

Willow Springs International Motorsports Park

A new race track that is a classic in the state of California. Set in the desert, it features multiple dusty and sandy layouts.

At Willow Springs you will find the following titles:

  • Big Willow: The main course of the Willow Springs Raceway, unofficially also called “Big Willow”, consists of 9 corners. The layout is designed for speed but also incorporates turns and elevation changes to offer a unique challenge.
  • Horse Thief Mile: A small, one-mile circuit with 11 turns and significant elevation changes surrounded by desert landscape.
  • The Streets of Willow Springs: Another small track of almost 3 kilometers with a test area. Ideal for testing or tuning.
  • Willow Springs Speedway: A quarter mile oval walled track.
  • Walt James Stadium: A 3/8 mile sand oval with sharp curves and no walls.

New foliage system

This is a series of visual improvements related to the way vegetation is displayed on the tracks, implemented for the first time in Willow Springs. Interestingly, Willow Springs is one of the tracks that needs it the least, but it adds realism to the circuit and encourages immersion. This much-needed change will gradually be implemented in other tracks as well.

Along with this improvement, more tools for textures and more have been developed, but a detailed notice is expected when they are made available.

9 different cars per session

Partly motivated by the introduction of LMP3 to multi-class racing, there is finally an increase in the number of cars available in the series. Up to nine (9) cars can now be used in a session, giving racers more variety and options.

Cadillac V-LMDH

We’ll have to wait and see if it’s confirmed that the new LMDh will launch alongside the BMW M8 Hybrid. There is currently video showing operations in Detroit, but little of it is seen. The audio is said to be from an LMDh, but this information should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The Cadillac V-Series.R, originally known as the Cadillac V-LMDh, is a racing prototype designed by Cadillac and built by Dallara. It was developed to comply with Le Mans Daytona regulations and debuted in

IMSA SportsCar Championship at the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona. From 2023 the car will also compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The 5.5-litre engine is the largest of any GTP car that debuted in the 2023 Daytona 24 Hours revival of the GTP class.

Motorland Aragon

There is a screen scan that suggests Motorland Aragón may be included in this release, but it may not be certain. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the end. If it is not taken into account now, it will probably arrive before the end of the year.

Motorland Aragón is a renowned motor racing circuit in the Alcañiz region of Spain. Almost iconic in motorsport, it is best known for hosting MotoGP events, although it has never hosted Formula 1 Grand Prix races. However, it has also hosted events such as the World Superbikes Championship, CEV, the World Series by Renault, as well as several national and regional motorcycle, automobile, karting and autocross championships.

Improvements in the Dirt Oval

Several improvements are being made to dirt oval racing, including updates to tracks, cars and contact modeling in this less popular discipline among Europeans. Dynamic route changes and the display of ideal lines with mud, water and heat are improved. In addition, a new damage model will be introduced for some of the deployed vehicles.
