iRacing S3 2023: what’s new?

Every three months, iRacing employees present their work to us in the form of videos and release notes. This time we’re using them as a recap to show you what’s new in the upcoming season to enjoy starting Tuesday.

This is the release of iRacing 2023 Season 3! This release includes both content and upgrades for Season 3 2023, which officially begins June 12th! This season update includes three new cars: Cadillac V-Series.R GTP, Ligier JS P320 and Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). iRacing is also expanding its track offering with MotorLand Aragón (7 configurations) and Willow Springs International Raceway, as well as a new 2023 cup configuration for the Chicago Street Course.

Our Dirt Taskforce has completed their work on the Dirt Refresh project they shared with the community back in February, and we’re excited for you to see the fruits of their labor. The Spotter system has received a number of race control-specific updates and new calls that will liven up your races and keep you better informed of what’s happening on the track and in the race. New Challenger Approach – You now have the ability to add AI opponent lists to your hosted sessions that utilize the Heat Racing format! We’re happy to report that we’ve invested time to save you time, more specifically load time, and that this seasonal release includes a first phase of load optimizations designed to get you in the driver’s seat a little faster. Willow Springs International Raceway is proud to introduce a new 3D foliage system that automatically populates the environment with grasses, shrubs and other Mother Nature’s creations. USB audio hot-swapping is now fully enabled and supported by iRacing for all your headset and speaker needs. Also, a new graphics option has been added that controls the display of all obstacles in the cockpit instead of this parameter being vehicle specific.

The new damage model was put into practice on eleven other vehicles. And last but not least, our AI drivers have mastered eight new cars and twenty-four new track configurations. Welcome to the third season of iRacing 2023!
