Following the announcement of Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Western Balkans DLC in June, SCS Software has revealed some details about its latest European map expansion.
However, last week (September 23, 2022) the Czech developer unveiled a whole host of new additions to the simulation, including some never-before-seen industries and areas for Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2).
The Western Balkans DLC will allow virtual truckers to visit Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia, and its location next to the coast will ensure numerous delivery opportunities.
With 1,200 islands in the Adriatic alone, that’s a lot of port-to-port sailings, and ETS2’s new ship logistics terminal is equipped for the task. Similarly, the Danube – Europe’s second longest river – flows through the region and sees SCS bringing river ports into play to simulate trade connections on waterways.
As a first for ETS2, Oil Fields have been added to the game, giving ETS2 players the ability to use their specialized Cistern trailers. The region is surprisingly rich in oil reserves, but also features region-specific bauxite sedimentary rocks rich in aluminum deposits.
This required the construction of a specialized in-game bauxite terminal that also feeds a new light metals factory with attached aluminum foundry.
The automotive industry is also seeing some love, with an auto parts factory in the Western Balkans DLC. There is also a Caravan Factory that will arrive with the new map update. One wonders what Clarkson, Hammond and May would think if they saw this on their next Grand Tour adventure?
