Racing roadmap and more cars to be unveiled in June

Speaking to the Grid Finder Podcast, the head of racing revealed that more details are due very soon.

It comes from the GT3-only esports series ESL R1, which raised questions about the new title’s car and track roster.

“If we choose to [ESL R1]…People said to me you’re stupid, one of your biggest competitors is Assetto Corsa and they made such a great GT3 game,” Morris Hecker said on the episode.

“We always had the vision to create this sport [event] and starting with ESL R1 and so it was clear from all the feedback from the partners and such they would like to have something where they could all get together.

“To be honest, GT3 was the best way to bring them together and create a sporting environment.”

“But as I’ve said on numerous occasions, that was just the beginning for us.”

A flood of online comments followed, berating the unreleased ride title. We wrote a counter-speech to this movement, stating that this will not be the case in the long run. That wasn’t enough for some, but it will become clearer in the coming weeks.

“We’re going to have concept cars, we’re going to have historic cars and open-wheelers,” Hebecker said, confirming comments from 2022.

“We will deliver a keynote speech at the summit in June this year. At this summit last year, we started that [esports] Drivers… and got their feedback.

“This year we’re going to start telling the story of what we’re planning to do with all the modding stuff, all the content stuff and stuff like that.

“We’re definitely going to share a little bit more about what kind of content will be available… and we’ll have four or five new cars to show there and new tracks too.”

The inaugural Racing Summit, held in Munich last May, presented the vision behind the project to the world and acted as an eSports test bed. The ESL R1 Spring Season calendar concludes with a LAN-based finale on June 3-4.

In addition to the race that decides the title, this year the community is therefore requesting further information about the end product. It sounds like they will get it too…
