The current season’s Gen3 Formula E car and liveries arrive for rFactor 2

During the unveiling of this year’s Formula E: Accelerate competition, it was indicated that the Gen3 cars would be used, and today, April 13, 2023, you can purchase them for rFactor 2 right now.

As the official simulator of the electric series since March last year, the new cars arrive with the liveries of the 9th season 2022/23.

A radical new design for the Championship includes wedge-like proportions and no rear brakes. The power is up to 350 kW compared to the previous 250 kW. There is now a dual engine configuration that can recover up to 600kW of energy. Compared to Gen2, Gen3 cars are 60 kg lighter.

The advanced regeneration system was modeled into the simulation and requires pressure on the brake pedal to gain energy – coasting is not enough – and a functional dashboard on the steering wheel that displays authentic data.

The car breaks recently created precedent for quarterly releases and costs €4.99 / £4.40 / $5.48. There’s also a 2023 Formula E package available for €25 / £22.02 / $27.44, which includes the car and six Formula E tracks, including the latest addition to the London venue. However, the Monaco E-Prix track is no longer available for purchase.

Studio 397 has stated that this update has arrived earlier than originally expected to accommodate some platform improvements. Note that registration for Formula E: Accelerate is now open and the first qualifying sessions begin on April 14th.

Branding around Formula E tracks has been updated to match the 2023 season and track limits have been revised.

Alongside the new Formula E content, a number of minor changes have been implemented, such as overhauling the AI’s reactions and gas behavior.
