WATCH: Le Mans Virtual Series Race 1, 8 Hours of Bahrain, LIVE

That’s it. We’ve officially made it to the start of the 2022-23 Le Mans Virtual Series. On Saturday (September 17, 2022) 40 top teams, consisting of three top drivers, will start the season strong and compete at the Bahrain International Circuit in the 8 Hours of Bahrain.

A total prize fund of $250,000 is at stake for teams to secure their share throughout the season.

Two car classes, the LMP2 and the GTE quartet consisting of Aston Martin Vantage GTE, BMW M8 GTE, Ferrari 488 GTE and Porsche 911 RSR GTE, compete simultaneously against Oreca 07 LMP2 – the prototype class and the faster of the two classes.

Utilizing Studio 397 and Motorsport Games’ rFactor 2 simulation platform, some of the high-profile talent we’ll see in the opening round of the 2022-23 Le Mans Virtual Series will be well-known real-world talent like Alon Day, James Baldwin, Sérgio Sette Camara and Dylan Pereira.

We’ll also see some of the best eSports drivers in a variety of different simulations, including drivers like Mitchell deJong, Diogo Pinto, Joshua Rogers and of course Jeffrey Rietveld.

Speaking of Rietveld, he was able to lead the No. 1 Team Redline LMP entry in qualifying for the LMP class. Kevin Siggy in the #71 BMW Team Redline BMW M8 GTE also secured a top spot in the GTE class and indeed both drivers and teams are last season’s returning champions.

The Le Mans Virtual Series 8 Hours of Bahrain begins on Saturday, September 17 at 1pm BST / 2pm CEST / 5am PT / 8am ET.
