Your Guide to Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races on March 13th: Super Suzuka!

This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races feature Gr.4s at Watkins Glen, Gr.2s at Spa-Francorchamps and Gr.3s battling it out at Deep Forest Raceway.

The pace changes slightly for this week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, as Polyphony Digital abandons road cars entirely in favor of Gr.2, Gr.3 and Gr.4 racers.

In Race A, Gr.4 is the focus and as usual, your results in Race A do not affect your Driver Rating (DR) or Sportsmanship Rating (SR).

Your guide to Gran Turismo 7's March 20th Daily Races: Watkins TT

Race B heads to Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit for a battle between late ’90s sportscars and Japanese SUPER GT machines, while Race C uses the reverse layout of Deep Forest Raceway for an intriguing Gr.3 battle.

Sports mode offers ranked online races where you are placed based on your past performances within the races.

RACE A

The Watkins Glen Short Course is the venue for Race A and differs slightly from the often used Grand Prix circuit layout.

Best known for hosting NASCAR events, the short course configuration offers a challenging – but fast – test for stock car drivers. Just ask former Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn competed in a NASCAR race in Watkins Short last year and made it into the top 10 before being spat into the barriers and injuring his wrist.

The car of choice for this Gr.4 event turns out to be a not-very-racy front-wheel drive car; the Audi TT Cup. The Audi was developed for a one-make series in Germany but has recently found itself at the top of the tree in GT7 Gr.4 races.

Its bespoke racing DNA delivers predictable handling, and when it starts to skid, a blast of gas will save the day. Bet Kimi wished his car had front wheel drive too…

Recommended car: Audi TT Cup ’16 (Brand Central350,000 credits or free rental)

Race B

Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, Spa Francorchamps, Gran Turismo 7

Heading to Spa-Francorchamps for Race B, with an epic bang for the super-fast Gr.2 cars.

Gr.2 includes classic racers from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, such as the AMG CLK-LM ’98, to Japanese SUPER GT competitors such as the Honda NSX GT500 and Lexus SC430 GT500.

However, it is Nissan’s GT-R NISMO GT500 that is sweeping the board for Race B, standing head and shoulders above its rivals and securing its position as the most successful model in SUPER GT history.

And Spa is the perfect place to stretch those cars’ legs, with high-speed corners like Pouhon, Eau Rouge and Blanchimont to match Nissan’s trick aero package that propelled it to back-to-back SUPER GT titles in 2014 and 2015.

Recommended Car: Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 ’16 (Brand Central, 800,000 credits or free rental)

Race C

Deep Forest Raceway, GT3 Lotus

Gr.3 racing has seen a competitive renaissance of late, with more cars than ever being fairly balanced. This means the longer and more strategy-focused Race C is the perfect platform to showcase close sports car racing.

With 2x fuel economy and 7x tire wear multipliers, the race will depend on when is the best time to pit. Both hard and medium compound tires must be used, adding another challenging element to the race strategy

The car of choice for Race C is the fictional Suzuki VGT. It may not look like a Suzuki you’ve ever seen, but it’s proven fast around the medium-speed corners of Deep Forest Raceway’s reverse layout…

Recommended car: Suzuki VGT (Gr.3) (Brand Central450,000 credits or free rental)

Lap time challenge

Lap Time Challenge of Gran Turismo 7, 16th-30th March: Wild Horses

This two week’s lap time challenge features the Ford Mustang GT ’15 at WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway.

A new lap time challenge will be available on March 30th at 7:00 GMT.
