Updated cars and 2023 F2 season arrive 16th October for F1 23

October is set to be a bumper month for F1 23 drivers, with a slew of new challenges on the way alongside updated Formula 1 car models and the 2023 Formula 2 season.

While no images have been released yet for the updated models, sponsor icons and aerodynamic appendages are said to have been revised to better match real-world entrants. It’s not been confirmed which race weekend these are accurate to, presumably not including any changes brought to imminent rounds.

“We have collaborated closely with the Formula 1 teams to introduce our enhanced sports livery update,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at EA Codemasters.

“Each team has made unique modifications to the cars, encompassing geometry, bodywork and sponsors to ensure fans enjoy the most authentic F1 racing experience.”

These aesthetic changes will hit with a game update across PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 16th October, alongside the current F2 season. At present, the F1 23 game has the 2022 line-up.

“Additionally, we are delighted to announce that players can now participate in the thrilling 14-round Formula 2 season, competing against prominent drivers such as Théo Pourchaire, Frederik Vesti, and Ayumu Iwasa,” continued Mather.

Again, in-game images for the latest F2 competitors are not available. It’s assumed that alongside the ability to use them in a single F2 season, the new drivers will be part of all single-player and multiplayer game modes.

Further challenges

F1 23 game Max Verstappen Suzuka Pro Challenge

F1 World continues its evolution with further limited-time challenges added throughout the next month.

Available right now is a fresh Max Verstappen pro challenge, with the aim to beat his lap time around Suzuka between today, 26th September, and 2nd October. His real-world crash helmet design from the recent Japanese Grand Prix is the in-game prize up for grabs.

Three further pro challenges will be available between now and 6th November, with specifics to be announced closer to their live dates – although a second one featuring Charles Leclerc will be included.

Replay events for the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix, United States Grand Prix and Mexican Grand Prix will be added after each race during October alongside two game-studio curated challenges. These will feature Nico HĂĽlkenberg 17th-22nd October and Sergio Perez 23rd-30th October 2023.

We’ll be back with the full patch notes when the next game update lands.
