Everything you need to know about Gran Turismo 7 update 1.25

The October update for Gran Turismo 7 is here and PlayStation drivers can now experience new races, fresh cars and a bunch of additional races. Here are the key elements.

This month’s Gran Turismo 7 update is now live and adds four new cars, overhauls vehicle dynamics and offers more races for you to compete in.

However, it will not add any more circuitry or dramatically improve the stability of the online lobby.

1.25 is available from today, October 20th, and weighs in at 1.06GB on PlayStation 4 and 1,648GB on PlayStation 5. Here’s what you need to know.

What is update 1.25 for Gran Turismo 7?

Update 1.25 is a free game patch for Gran Turismo 7, following the continued post-release support schedule set by Polyphony Digital to release a significant set of changes each month.

The CafĂ© Menu Book system is sort of the game’s main career mode, and with today’s update it’s been expanded by a 46th chapter, provided you’ve reached Collector Level 29.

  • Menu Book No. 46: “Historical Sports Car Championship”

This includes cars like the new Maserati Merak, Ferrari and Lamborghinis. Any car under 580 PP made between 1960 and 1989 is allowed.

Menu Book No. 46 'Historical Sports Car Champions'

The following three events have been added to World Circuits as part of this new book.

  • Goodwood Motor Circuit, five laps, max reward 55,000 credits
  • NĂŒrburgring Nordschleife, one lap, maximum bonus 60,000 credits
  • Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, three laps, max reward 55,000 credits

If you finish these three races on the podium you will receive the following prize:

  • Four Star Roulette Ticket

Four new cars

We’ve already covered these in detail, but below you can find where to buy them, how much they cost, and their PP values.

  • Maserati Merak SS ’80 – Legendary Cars – 422.29 PP – 75,000 Credits
  • Mazda Roadster NR-A (ND) ’22 – Brand Central – 421.56 PP – 31,000 Credits
  • Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 ’18 Gr.3 – Brand Central – 723.14 PP – 600,000 Credits
  • Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) ’73 – Legend Cars – 386.53 PP – 542,000 Credits

Remarkably, the 1973 Nissan Skyline doesn’t come cheap, but in the real world it was incredibly scarce, taking only four months to produce. The second Nissan Gr.3 entry is also equivalent to 150,000 more credits than the existing older specification.

Mazda Roadster NR-A ND22

The new Roadster (pronounced MX-5) is very similar to the existing model in the game, but with racing-modified elements like a roll cage. It is available with or without a racing livery.

Revised driving physics

Possibly the biggest change with the Gran Turismo 7 1.25 update is an optimization of the performance of cars. After its release, developers Polyphony Digital softened the edge handling characteristics of many road cars, we’ll see upon further testing if subsequent revisions deliver a similarly dramatic difference.

  • Adjusting simulation for tire heat generation and wear ratio;
  • The suspension geometry was adjusted for each car;
  • Adjusted starting values for suspension parts;
  • Adjusted starting differentials (equipped with “fully customizable LSD”) on certain vehicles;
  • Adjusted the performance points (PP) of some cars;
  • Changed the conditions for mechanical damage resulting from collision or contact when “Mechanical Damage” is set to “Light” or “Heavy” in the race settings. As a result, cars are now less likely to take damage after hitting a track wall or other obstacles.
