These four new cars are coming to Gran Turismo 7 | earlier than expected traction

An updated Nissan GT-R GT3 racer, a classic Skyline, the Maserati Merak and a second variant of the ND Mazda MX-5 (Roadster) are all coming to Gran Turismo 7 in the week beginning October 17th.

Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital, developer of Gran Turismo 7, this month teased not three but four new vehicles on the way to the ever-evolving racing game.

So far, a new update has been released on the last week of every month that has added new vehicles, races, and quality of life features. A few days before these drops, the series producer traditionally posts a darkened image of three car silhouettes on Twitter.

Today’s post (October 16) breaks that cycle, a week earlier than expected, and includes an additional vehicle schematic.

“The update is coming next week,” said Yamauchi-san, who also pointed out that the new content will arrive in the week starting October 17 instead of the expected week starting October 24.

A quaint sports car from the ’70s and ’80s, the Merak came from a time when the Italian manufacturer was owned by Citroën.

That meant a five-speed French manual gearbox was used and – if it was a 3.0-litre – the same engine as the Citroën SM. Hydraulic brakes are also available.

The model was also closely related to the Bora, which featured a V8. The body of both cars was nearly identical, although the Bora has a glass house at the rear and the Merak opted for a pair of flying buttresses instead.

Now the GT3 version of Nissan’s timeworm GTR is already included in the 2013 specification of Gran Turismo 7.

The outline here is reminiscent of us, so we’re hoping for either one of the revised 2018 spec or 2020 EVO versions. They notably updated the headlights to match the street-going facelift models, along with a revised aerodynamics package, an upgraded engine and upgraded driver assistance software.

The final paint job and the team included will only be announced as the release of the update approaches.

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110)

The second Nissan GT-R in this update, but it’s very different from the GT3 beast. This is the 2000GT-R from the 1970s.

Based on the drab skyline of the time, the GT-R featured a 2-litre S20 engine and four-wheel disc brakes.

This one is based on a later Skyline generation than the 1970 KPGC10 2000GT-R, which can already be seen in the Legend Cars Pavilion and is characterized by its square-nosed face, two-door profile and long bonnet.

Mazda Roadster (MX-5) ND

Wait, “in Gran Turismo 7 there’s already an ND-gen MX-5,” I hear you cry. You would be right too.

But it’s the zesty little 1.5-litre engine. The more powerful 2.0-litre is missing so far, so it could well be one with the larger engine. It could also be the RF model with a retractable hardtop, or one of the many special editions like the 100th anniversary model pictured here.

The unique closure line between the front bumper and the hood gives the game away in our opinion, especially when combined with the short vehicle length and open appearance.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
